The cellphone bills were a killer

Hayden Panettiere has reportedly dumped Steve Jones. The Heroes star enjoyed a brief romance with the British TV presenter this summer, during which they were spotted eating together in London and went to the Cannes Film Festival in France.

However, Panettiere decided to end her relationship with the 32-year-old hunk because she couldn't handle a long-distance relationship.

She is quoted by Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "I'm single and mingling. Steve lives in London, the distance is a bit too much.

"I'm not dating anyone specifically and I'm not looking for a house with anyone."

The Fox Effect

Shia LaBeouf says it "makes sense" for him to date Megan Fox. The Hollywood actor admits he has a huge crush on his Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen costar and is upset she only wants to be friends. He said: "I understand the introspection that way, we have been working with each other for years now. She is a very attractive girl and I am a red-blooded 23-year-old. I get it. It makes sense to me, but it is just a professional relationship regardless of what my wishes and hopes would be."

It's the sound of a million hearts breaking

Kevin Jonas is engaged. The Jonas Brothers singer proposed to girlfriend Danielle Deleasa on Wednesday after he turned up on her doorstep and got down on one knee.

Speaking about Deleasa's reaction: "She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row." Deleasa -- who met Jonas in May 2007 while on holiday with their families in the Bahamas -- added: "It still feels like a dream." Jonas -- who has vowed to remain a virgin until his wedding night -- admits he was nervous about popping the question.

He said: "It was tough performing last night, knowing that I was going to ask the biggest question in my life to the most amazing girl in the world." Jonas's parents, Kevin Sr. and Denise, are thrilled with the happy news.

Hello, hello Can you turn it down a bit?

Barcelona city authorities say they might fine band U2 for rocking too long and loudly during rehearsals for their latest world tour.

While the city says it is proud to host the beginning of U2's world tour, it also said in a statement yesterday one of its districts received a formal complaint by residents about the band playing after permitted hours and making noise.

The Irish quartet kicked off its "360 degree" tour at Barcelona football club's Camp Nou stadium by playing 22 songs in front of 90,000 fans Tuesday.

She's not 'ready' to make room for daddy

Kelly Rowland doesn't feel "ready" to search for her biological father.

The 28-year-old singer -- who has not seen her dad since she was seven -- has refuted reports she is tracking him down, claiming she couldn't cope with the emotional upheaval at the moment.

She told Britain's Heat Radio: "I don't know who started that story! I haven't actually. I feel like I'm not really ready for that yet, I've enough going on in my life to really open that up. Maybe later on in about 16 or 17 months. I told myself I'd work for 16 long months and then I'd take a vacation or a break, but now is not that time for me." Rowland and her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, left the family home because her father was "drunk and aggressive."

UN BACKS JAY

Television host Jay Leno has won control of a web address using the name of his new show. The UN's World Intellectual Property Organization says current owner Guadalupe Zambrano of Katy, Texas, will have to transfer the domain name -- thejaylenoshow.com -- to the comedian. The agency says Zambrano failed to demonstrate he had a legitimate reason for registering the address five years ago while Leno was still hosting The Tonight Show.

Zambrano used the site to redirect web surfers to his real estate business. The Jay Leno Show premieres Sept. 14 on NBC.

Katie's gotta dance

So Katie Holmes thinks she can dance -- and in a few weeks, she'll display her moves before a discriminating audience. Nigel Lythgoe, who is the producer of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, confirms the 30-year-old actress will perform for the reality contest's 100th episode, airing July 23. Holmes will pay homage to Judy Garland. In a taped number, she'll sing and dance to the Garland classic Get Happy. Holmes' TV cameo is meant to promote the new foundation she launched with Lythgoe and Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba. The nonprofit group, called Dizzy Feet, aims to support dance education and programs, and talented dancers who can't afford training.

Now Renee's on Jen's list

Renee Zellweger has enjoyed a romantic meal with Jennifer Aniston's rumoured boyfriend.

The Oscar-winning actress and Bradley Cooper -- who reportedly began dating the former Friends star last month -- were seen flirting during dinner at exclusive New York restaurant Antonucci.

An onlooker told America's OK! magazine: "He pulled her chair out for her when she sat down and he kissed her on the hand. If they're just friends, they were being awfully affectionate!

"At one point, he seemed to want to whisper something to her as if it were a secret."

Zellweger surprised her dinner companion by secretly paying the bill before he had a chance to.

Jones is looking forward to the green, green grass of home

Tom Jones is moving back to the U.K. Jones has been living in Los Angeles for 35 years but increasingly misses life in Britain and is planning to return before the end of the year.

"I've had a great time living in Los Angeles but, after all these years, we think now is the time to move home," he said.

"My wife Linda's been getting homesick lately and we have talked about it for a while. Britain has always been home. I love coming here and miss it more and more when I go back to Los Angeles. It's the people and humour you can't get anywhere else."

The 69-year-old star revealed his decision to move was speeded up by his friend and former Los Angeles neighbour Robbie Williams returning to the U.K.

'I'D LIKE TO THANK THE ACADEMY'

She left her heart in Barcelona

Gwyneth Paltrow says Spain has "become a second home."

The Iron Man star spent a lot of time in the Mediterranean country filming cooking show On The Road Again with chef Mario Batali and would happily leave New York and move there permanently.

The 36-year-old actress said: "It is so different from the United States. It seemed to have a history, and the buildings are years and years and years old. Here in the United States, an old building is about 17 years old, and over there it's from 500 BC, it's incredible.

"Also, the way people live over there. They seem to enjoy life a little bit more."
