Two Hamilton men have been arrested in relation to a robbery at a Burlington variety store today.

The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the Maplewood Market on Brant Street, just south of Prospect Street, said Halton police.

While one man brandished a knife and knocked a 60-year-old, lone female employee to the ground, police said the other removed an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

The men then fled in a stolen vehicle from Hamilton. They soon abandoned the vehicle and ran, but were quickly apprehended by police on foot.

The victim suffered a cut hand and was treated and released from hospital.

The investigation continues.
